Fall educator grants are bringing fresh ideas into Maplewood, New Jersey, classrooms, with projects shaped by the teachers who know their students best.

Across the South Orange Maplewood School District, the Achieve Foundation awarded $34,258 to 26 educator-led initiatives, a boost that reaches well beyond any single school.

These classroom project grants will support literacy, music, engineering, social-emotional learning and college readiness.

At Seth Boyden, funded proposals pair early reading activities with tools designed to help children manage emotions and stay ready to learn.

studMaplewood Middle School ents will benefit from mentoring, hands-on learning, a cardboard arcade and programs that make connection part of the school day.

Support from the Pollock Arts Initiative will also help bring a Dance Theatre of Harlem master class to select dance students at the middle school.

At Clinton Elementary, new xylophones will give young musicians more room to explore harmony.

These are not one-size-fits-all purchases.

They grew from proposals by individual teachers and educator teams who saw opportunities in their own classrooms.

At Columbia High School, funded work spans robotics, fashion design, engineering, government studies and pathways toward college and careers.

Other awards will strengthen current-events instruction at South Orange Middle School, support circle keepers at South Mountain and expand shared reading at Tuscan.

The range matters because a richer school day should not depend on a single subject, grade level or family's ability to pay for extras.

Achieve says donations from community members and local business sponsors make the grants possible.

For families, the celebrations around these awards offer a welcome reminder that local support can become something students use, hear or experience during class.

Educators looking ahead can apply for the next Deborah Prinz grant cycle beginning November 23, 2026.

For South Orange and Maplewood teachers, that is another chance to turn a practical classroom idea into a student experience that lasts.
