Chili Cookoff in Maplewood Shout Outs

Maplewood is gearing up for the much-anticipated  Maplewood Chili Cookoff on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at The Woodland Great Hall, located at 60 Woodland Road.

 

From 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, residents and visitors alike will gather to savor a variety of chili recipes, all while supporting a noble cause.

 

Unlike traditional competitions judged by a select panel, this event empowers attendees to cast their votes, ensuring that the winners truly reflect the community's palate.

 

Participants can enter their best meat or vegetarian chili, with an entry fee of $40, which includes admission for the chef and an optional assistant.

 

For those eager to taste and vote, tasting passes are available for $25.

 

Tickets go on sale February 1 at 9 AM.

 

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Achieve Foundation's Pollock Arts Initiative, dedicated to enhancing arts education in the South Orange-Maplewood School District.

 

Additionally, attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support the MEND Hunger Relief Network, addressing food insecurity in Essex County.
