Community Running Event in Maplewood Shout Outs |
Highlighting the 4th of july 5k and maplewood july 4 activities |
Start your Independence Day with the annual 4th of July Run Through Maplewood 5K, supporting the Columbia High School Track & Field and Cross Country programs.
The race kicks off at 8:00 AM on July 4, 2026, at 124 Dunnell Road, near the Civic House in Memorial Park.
Early registration is $35 through June 30; after that, the fee increases to $40.
Participants can register online or on race day starting at 7:00 AM.
Runners, walkers, families, and competitors of all ages are welcome to traverse the 3.1-mile course through Maplewood's scenic neighborhood streets.
The first 220 registrants will receive a race T-shirt, so early sign-up is encouraged.
Laura Wallis, co-president of the CHS Track & Field Parents Association, expressed excitement about the event, emphasizing the community's support and the contributions of volunteers and sponsors.
This cherished event raises funds for essential items like equipment and travel expenses for student athletes.
Race director Tara McDonnell highlighted that, despite being the largest athletics team at CHS, Track & Field requires no dues or fees, making fundraising efforts like this crucial.
Note the earlier start time this year—8:00 AM—to accommodate Maplewood's full slate of July 4th activities.
Beyond the 5K, Maplewood's Independence Day celebrations include a bike parade, kids' fun run, adult softball, bingo, an ice cream eating contest, a pet parade, and fireworks at 9:00 PM.
