The Maplewood Film Society and Maplewood Arts & Culture are set to present a special screening of the acclaimed film Sinners on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at The Woodland Great Hall.
Doors will open at 6:00 PM, with the film starting promptly at 7:00 PM.
Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a discussion about the Black history and culture depicted in the film, featuring insights from Khalil Gibran Muhammad, the inaugural professor of African American Studies at Princeton University.
While tickets are free, an RSVP is required, and donations are appreciated.
Refreshments will be provided by the Essex County Civic Club, an affiliate of the New Jersey State Federation of Colored Women's Clubs and the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, Sinners is a 2025 American horror film set in 1932 Mississippi Delta.
The film stars Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as twin brothers who return to their hometown, confronting a supernatural evil.
The cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton (in his film debut), Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo.
Recognized by both the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute as one of the top ten films of 2025, Sinners has garnered multiple accolades, including four wins at the 31st Critics' Choice Awards and seven nominations at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama.
