Youth lacrosse programs in Maplewood Shout Outs

The South Orange-Maplewood community is set to enhance its youth lacrosse programs with the introduction of SOMA Girls Lacrosse, an official initiative under the South Orange Recreation Department.

 

This development formalizes a longstanding partnership, aiming to provide broader access, reduce costs, and foster long-term growth for girls' lacrosse in the area.

 

For over 25 years, the Maplewood Girls Lacrosse Club (MGLC) has been at the forefront of promoting girls' lacrosse locally.

 

With this transition, MGLC will shift its focus to booster activities, supporting the program through fundraising and community engagement.

 

Registration for fall programming opens on June 17, 2026, offering various options:

 

Fall Little Laxers for grades K-2, Free Trial Day sessions for grades 3-5 and 6-8, Fall Clinics & Scrimmages for grades 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8, and a Goalie Clinic for grades 3-8.

 

Additionally, a new summer program emphasizing fun and lacrosse skills will be available, fostering community connection.

 

Families can expect continuity in programming, with the same core offerings transitioning seamlessly under the Recreation Department.
